CURATING A COOKBOOK COLLECTION FOR CHEWTON GLEN COOKERY SCHOOL
The Kitchen at Chewton Glen Hotel & Spa is a new place to eat, meet, create and cook. With its own kitchen garden and a greenhouse where herbs and vegetables are grown year-round to supply The Kitchen. The Kitchen is a feast for the senses and an inspirational setting to hone your culinary skills or watch chefs developing new seasonal menus, under the expert tutelage of chefs James Martin and Rob Cottam.
It was important for the team at Chewton Glen to create a cookery school with a strong learning element to it. And to have a collection of aspirational and practical cookery books readily available for sale at the end of the day.
To support the launch, Ultimate Library was asked to curate an inspiring book collection on food & cooking that would speak to the cookery school’s style, interests and location. The resulting Chewton Glen cookery collection was complied with input from Chewton Glen’s home team and Ultimate Library’s book experts. The collection is regularly resupplied and updated.
For greater regional cooking context, the British table, offers a fresh take on the traditions of British cooking. Phaidon’s Recipes from the Woods talks to much of the great produce one can find in the English countryside such as wild strawberries and pheasant or quail. For contemporary cookbooks by British health gurus, Amelia Freer’s Cook. Eat. Glow is both informative and inspiring. But these are just an amuse bouche!
