The Marylebone is a luxury hotel nestled within the heart of one of the most fashionable areas of London.

As part of the hotel’s refurbishment plans for the event and meeting space, Ultimate Library were asked to curate a bespoke book collection for both the Library Room and the Blue Room within the new Marylebone Rooms, to help create a stylish new collection of contemporary event spaces.

Working with the award-winning interior designer Michaelis Boyd to a tight timeline, Ultimate Library put together a collection of over 200 hardback reading and illustrated titles, to transform two utilitarian spaces into vibrant and inviting event spaces.

Books were selected with both content and look in mind, thereby complimenting the interior designer’s brief and overall stylish new aesthetic. Both the collections had to reflect the surrounding area, providing a sense of local culture and local history as well as showcasing the best of art, fashion and lifestyle.

To generate a dialogue with the guests and books Ultimate Library designed bespoke bookplates in conjunction with the hotel’s current branding as part of the guest engagement programme.

The Library Room

The collection was tailored according to the complex dimensions of the contemporary joinery. Illustrated books made up a large proportion of The Marylebone’s collection as, due to the height of the shelving compartments, a visually commanding collection of titles were required to make an aesthetic statement.

The Blue Room

With a slightly smaller collection, illustrated and hardback reading books were placed around the room, adorning coffee tables, side tables and a statement mirrored shelving unit at the end of the room.

‘Ultimate Library worked to an exceedingly tight time frame to curate an aesthetically pleasing and informative collection for the refurbished Marylebone Rooms. Collaborating with us and our interior designer, they provided us with the right books to help set the tone of the rooms and the central London location. The book collection has brought a personal and thoughtful touch to our guests’ overall experience and we would highly recommend their services again.’
